Bulk Organic Waste Solutions for Biogas & Anaerobic Digestion Plants

Our bulk organic waste services handle AD digestate fibre, segregated AD screenings and other organic materials, utilising our own composting site and a nationwide network of treatment and restoration facilities.

Case Study: Anaerobic Digestate Grit

Our organic waste management team was involved in a large scale project at one of their sites in Wales. The project entailed removing large volumes of AD grit (anaerobic digestate grit) that had accumulated in tankers on site.

Overview

Site Solutions is able to handle a wide range of organic wastes as well as products from organic waste treatment processes. Through our sister company, Compost UK, we operate our own composting site and have a national network of third party treatment and restoration sites which we work with when required.

Site Solutions partner with biogas plants nationwide managing the collection and removal of organic waste (AD grit, fibres, etc). Over the years, we have worked hard on building a trustworthy and reliable network to treat wastes compliantly.

We manage a full spectrum of organic waste and treatment by-products, including:

  • Food waste and green waste

  • Agricultural residues and slurries

  • Oversized compost materials

  • AD by-products (grit, fibres, filter materials, screenings)

  • Contaminated organic streams requiring specialist handling

Nationwide Collections

Bulk transport and waste services to move organic wastes quickly and reliably.

AD By-product Management

Collection and treatment of grit, fibres, screenings and food waste depackaging.

Sustainable Practices

Diverting waste from landfill wherever possible through composting, recycling, and land restoration.

Trusted Network

We partner with APHA-registered hauliers for all Animal By-Products (ABPs), ensuring strict compliance and reliability throughout our supply chain.

Compliant Documentation

Full audit trails, permits, and regulatory compliance support.

How we work

Call/email the team to discuss bulk waste type.

The team will extract all relevant required information and assess and evaluate the most efficient and sustainable solution. This will often include a site visit to understand the processes producing the material and taking of samples of the material.

Using our nationwide network, we will develop a proposal ensuring compliance with regulations. This may include trial loads or, in some cases, trialling a whole new process to understand how the waste can be effectively treated within regulatory

Once agreed we will schedule a plan of works with a designated account manager to manage the process from start to finish. We would generally organise the transport of the material, thereby providing a holistic solution to our customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is bulk organic waste?

Bulk organic waste typically includes large volumes of biodegradable materials such as food scraps, garden trimmings, and agricultural residues. It’s not your everyday household rubbish – organic waste typically come from water treatment, waste water treatment, AD sites and compost facilities.

How does bulk organic waste differ from regular waste?

Unlike typical mixed waste, bulk organic waste is specifically composed of natural, decomposable materials. This means it can be processed into nutrient-rich compost or bioenergy, reducing landfill load while boosting sustainability.

What types of bulk organic waste can you handle?

Where we can, we will find a home for all types of waste. We are particularly interested in the following EWC codes:

  • 20 02 01
  • 20 01 08
  • 19 05 03
  • 19 05 03
  • 19 06 04
  • 19 12 12
  • 19 05 03
  • 19 05 99
  • 19 08 02
  • 19 06 04
  • 20 03 03
  • 19 09 02
  • 19 12 12
  • 19 08 05

What are the environmental benefits of processing bulk organic waste?

Transforming bulk organic waste helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting waste from landfills. Plus, the end products—like nutrient-rich compost—can rejuvenate soil health and support sustainable agriculture. Essentially, you’re contributing to a circular economy where nothing goes to waste.

What happens after bulk organic waste is processed?

After processing, the waste is transformed into valuable resources such as high-quality compost or renewable energy through biogas production.
