The Challenge

Our collaboration with one of the UK’s leading specialists in medical installation and refurbishment dates back to 2018. Skip UK has provided waste management services on a range of projects. Skip UK is a brand of Tool Hire Direct which is part of the Site Solutions group.

Our customer predominately partner with private hospitals across London as well as a number of NHS hospitals, building radiation proof rooms and installing MRI scanners. Due to the nature of the projects, there were a number of specific requirements involved.

We are currently involved in a project that began in January 2022 at a private hospital in the centre of London. This job has involved a number of stipulations which needed careful consideration and management solutions.

The Solution

Our customer required a waste solution and management of brick rubble, plasterboard and general construction waste from ripping out old hospital rooms scheduled for a refit. Carly is the dedicated Account Manager and has tailored a bespoke service package e66nsuring we adhere to exact requirements.

The main issue on this project was timings. Due to the hospital still operating as normal, strict timelines were put in place to avoid patients and staff members. Waste loads were scheduled to be taken via a lift between 8.30am – 9am. With no suitable location to house a skip, a weight and load on cage lorry solution was arranged to collect waste at 9am each day.

Carly is on hand to ensure timings are kept to and any niggles are rectified on all projects. Each job is typically different and we tailor accordingly:

  • For projects where a skip can be safely left, an enclosed skip is arranged as to protect any waste materials from the public. Again, delivery of the enclosed skip is usually arranged for first thing in the morning as to avoid busy periods in the hospital car parks.
  • As well as waste solutions, Skip UK also supply hire of any required equipment. Recently, dehumidifiers and heaters were arranged for a private hospital in the centre of London to help dry out damp walls.
  • Welfare facilities such as units, temporary fencing and toilets have also been arranged.

Waste transfer notes and reports are provided at the end of each job. All waste collected is segregated at local waste transfer stations where at least 98% is recycled.
