The Challenge

One of our customers responded to an urgent enquiry involving a fuel tank leak in Merthyr Tydfil. In situations like these, efficiency is crucial—not only to minimise environmental impact but also to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The presence of live electricity cables around the leak added complexity to the project, requiring careful handling during restoration and treatment to prevent any risks.

Our customer was clear on the type of equipment required and came to Site Solutions to source and manage the hire and delivery.

The Solution

Wherever possible, we incorporate sustainable practices into our waste management and equipment hire projects. For this job, a vacuum excavator was required, as specified by the customer.

The vacuum excavator uses powerful suction to remove heavy debris and soil, making it a less invasive alternative to traditional excavators. Its precision not only minimises ground disturbance and waste production but also ensures that live electricity cables near the contaminated area are avoided.

Additionally, a 20-yard roll-on/roll-off skip was arranged to contain the contaminated soil safely.
