The Challenge:

Leader Systems has been a customer of Tool Hire Direct’s (THD) for a number of years. Tool Hire Direct joined the Site Solutions group in 2023.

Established in 1983, Leader Systems specializes in life safety systems. Working together with manufacturers, Leader selects the most appropriate equipment to create bespoke system to suit each customer.

Leader Systems is involved in the billion-pound redevelopment of London Olympias Exhibition Centre. This project includes the expansion of the existing exhibition space to include a significant new office development, a school,  a music venue and theatre, hotels, and retail outlets, as well as additional exhibition space. Laing O’Rourke is the main construction contractor, while Leader Systems oversees the electronic life safety systems aspect of the project.

Tool Hire Direct was appointed to work alongside Leaders on this project, providing the necessary equipment for the safety system installations.

The Solution

Given the scale and complexity of the project, numerous restrictions and specifications had to be adhered to. The Key Account Manager for THD has managed the project from the start, ensuring all paperwork is completed in compliance with the required specifications.

A range of manual and powered access equipment was needed for Leader Systems to safely and efficiently install their safety systems. Site contractors specified that each piece of equipment must have a tracker system installed. Josh ensured that sub-contractors could provide this service before making arrangements.

In addition to the tracking system, we were required to coordinate between our suppliers and the end user to comply with stringent access restrictions to ensure compliance on site. For example: vehicle registration and equipment details recorded and sent for approval. Once approved we were allocated a one hour time slot for delivery. The same process was carried out for collections.

THD is experienced in managing the intricacies and forward planning involved with large scale projects and tailors solutions to meet exact requirements. This project is expected to run until 2025.
