The Challenge:
Dav Fest, a music festival first held in the summer of 2022 in Daventry, Northamptonshire, has grown significantly each year. This summer, it boasted its biggest lineup yet, featuring a weekend packed with tribute acts.
Tool Hire Direct, part of the Site Solutions group, was contacted by one of the festival organizers based on a recommendation. The growing size of the event required more provisions to ensure smooth and safe operations throughout the weekend.
The Solution:
With around 2,500 attendees last year, and potentially more this year, safety, crowd control, timing, and coordination were critical aspects that needed careful management.
Crowd Control & Safety
Keigan, the account manager for this project, liaised with the festival organizer to arrange the hire of panels and barriers to manage audience safety and control crowd flow. These were strategically placed around staging areas, entrances, and exits to ensure smooth operations.
Efficiency and Forward Planning
Our objective is always to offer advice and solutions that streamline projects. While we had already arranged the necessary equipment hire, further options were discussed to ensure a smooth setup process.
Panels and barriers were scheduled to be delivered to the site a few days before the festival. Additionally, a telehandler was added to the order to assist with various aspects of the setup. The telehandler would:
- Transport heavy and bulky equipment such as barriers, stage components, lighting rigs, and sound systems.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of large structures.
- Facilitate quick and efficient movement of materials across the festival site.
The telehandler was scheduled to be delivered a day before the rest of the equipment to offload and position everything, and it would be collected a day after the festival.
